Choko Karita nació en Kyoto, Japón, en 1927. Empezó a aprender Caligrafía cuando era estudiante de la escuela secundaria y desde el año 1968 aprendió bajo las enseñanzas del gran maestro Kanpo Harada de la Asociación Japonesa de Caligrafía (Nihon Shuji Kyoiku Zaidan). En 1988 se graduó en la Universidad Nacional de Caligrafía, sin abandonar sus actividades en la Asociación. Choko Karita obtuvo el nivel más alto (nivel 8) que concede la Asociación en 1982. Durante el tiempo que ha sido profesora de caligrafía, ha publicado 2 libros y ha realizado varias exposiciones en Japón, Suiza y Bélgica. En el año 1999 fue reconocida como artista honoraria de Geijutsu Koron (revista especializada) y en el mismo año fue elegida como uno de los 100 Grandes Maestros de Caligrafía por Gasen Tsukasa. Choko Karita acaba de publicar su segundo libro titulado Hyakunin Isshu (100 poemas) en honor a la memoria de su esposo Osamu Karita quien falleció en Octubre de 1999.

めぐりあいて　見しやそれとも　わかぬ間に　雲がくれにし　よはの月かな紫式部もうひとつ私の師匠、苅田朝香先生の作品をご紹介したいと思います。これはバルセロナで百人一首展覧会をした時の１００作品のうちのひとつです。 Ésta también es otra obra de mi maestra Choko Karita. Este año ella cumple 86 años. Lleva haciendo Shodo (caligrafía japonesa) más de 80 años. Tiene nivel que nunca podría alcanzar.

日々是好日 Nichi nichi kore kounichi

日々是好日（にちにちこれこうにち） Nichi nichi kore kounichi Nichi nichi kore konichi is a Chinese-Japanese Zen Buddhist proverb at least 1.100 years old which means "Every day is a good day", or "All days are good days". Some people are troubled by rain but some people are helped by rain. You say "today is a good day" or "today is a bad day" just judging if the day was convenient for you or not. In Zen world there is no bad day. Even though rainy day, even though painful day, every day should be a good day and an important day which makes your life. You should have power to change that hard day to a good day. Nichi nichi kore konichi significa "cualquier día es un buen día".
